Who are we?
We are folks who are striving to simply
be just Christians…nothing else. We believe that if we
follow only Christ and His teachings, we can emulate the disciples
of the New Testament Church. And the disciples were called
Christians first in Antioch (Acts 11:26)
· What do we
believe?
We believe that the New Testament
contains God’s complete revelation for mankind, and that everything
we need for spiritual salvation can be found there. We believe that
all men are guilty of sin in the eyes of God, and that this
situation separates us spiritually from God and will cause us to be
eternally dead unless we can correct it. We believe that Jesus
Christ is the author of eternal life for everyone who is willing to
submit themselves to him and do His commandments. (Matt 7:21)
(John 14:15) (Hebrews 5:9)
· What is
necessary for salvation?
We believe that we can only be saved by
the grace of God which was manifested in the sacrifice of His Son,
Jesus, on the cross. But in order to receive this free gift of
grace, God asks us to do five essential things:
1. Hear the message of Christ’s gospel in order to be
made aware of your spiritual condition and what you can do about it.
The gospel is the good news that Jesus died for sin, was buried and
raised, never to die again (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
2. Believe that Christ’s gospel is the truth and that
He has the power to save your soul (John 3:16) (Hebrews 11:6)
3. Repent of those things you have done which are in
conflict with the will of God and make a sincere commitment to
change your life (Acts 17:30) (Luke 13:3,5)
4. Confess before men that you accept Jesus as your
savior (Romans 10:9-10) (Acts 8:37)
5. Be Baptized for the forgiveness of your sins and to
receive the blessing of the Holy Spirit to help you in your new
life. When you’ve done these things, God will add you to the Church
(Acts 2:38) (Mark 16:16) (Galations 3:27) (Acts 22:16) (Romans
6:3-4) (Acts 2:47)
· What does
God expect of me after I become a Christian?
God’s expectations for you are really
pretty simple: He wants you to let Jesus become the most important
person in your life, and He says that when you do this, everything
else will be taken care of by Him. In the simplest of terms, being a
successful Christian means learning how to love God and everyone
else. This love will be exhibited in every part of your life as you
learn to submit yourself to God’s will as we are told in the Bible
(Matthew 22:36-39) (1 Corinthians 13) Jesus said that we have
an obligation to tell others about His wonderful gospel and to do
all things as He has commanded us (Matthew 28:19-20). You
learn what He expects from you by continually studying His revealed
word...the Bible.
· Can I know if
I’m saved?
God doesn’t leave us guessing about the
condition of our relationship with Him in our new Christian lives.
His desire is for us to be perfectly content and happy when we
commit ourselves to Him. He assures us that even when we stumble
along the way, if we are sincerely trying to live for Him, the grace
of Christ’s sacrifice will continue to cleanse us, and we can be
confident that our salvation is secure. (1 John 1:7)
