Lydia's Diary--Chronicles of Our Ladies in God's Service

Acts 16: 13-15  "And on the sabbath day we went forth without the gate by a river side, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down, and spake unto the women that were come together.   And a    certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purpose of the city of Thyatira, one that worshipped God, heard us:  whose heart the Lord opened to give heed unto the things which were spoken by Paul.  And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there.  And she constrained us."  (ASV)

                                            Some things never seem to change. The women of Thyatira were the ones who were more spiritual than the men, and it was the women who came to a place of prayer on the sabbath day, the as-yet recognized date for worship. It was Lydia who listened to the word of the Lord and responded to Jesus in baptism after she had been taught.

                                         At the Dover church of Christ, we have many "Lydias." Linked to Lydia's Diary are only some of the lessons, poems, prose, and sage advice that they make available to women who might be drawn closer to the Lord though these samples of their work.
